Walter Assistant Overview

Walter is the AI assistant built into ServiceVisit. It appears as a small number of buttons on the pages where you write something: an estimate, a customer reply, or an assessment. Walter reads what is on that page, offers a draft, and stops. Every suggestion is a draft that a person reviews, changes or throws away. Walter does not send messages, save records, change prices or move a job to a new status on its own.

Where you meet Walter

  • Improve with Walter sits beside the What we found and Recommended work boxes on the Edit Estimate page. It rewrites your wording so it reads clearly to the customer. See the guide on improving estimate wording.
  • Ask Walter sits above the reply box on an Active conversation, in Conversations and in a customer's conversation view. It writes a first draft of your reply. See the guide on replying with Walter.
  • Draft from notes and Get Diagnosis sit on the assessment capture page, under Diagnose the Problem. The first proposes structured details from your notes. The second returns a Walter AI Analysis with a likely diagnosis, parts, tools and next steps. See the guide on assessment findings and diagnosis.
  • On the timesheet page, an active timer that has run past the expected end of the visit shows a notice that begins "Walter noticed this visit was expected to end". It asks whether you are still working. It never stops your time by itself; you choose Still working, Finished at expected time or Finish now.

What Walter sees

Walter works from the text you give it on that page: the wording in the box, the conversation you have open, or the notes and photos on the assessment. Draft quality follows from that input, so a short or vague note produces a vague draft.

What Walter does not do

  • It does not send anything. A reply draft goes out only when you choose Send yourself.
  • It does not record anything. Suggested findings are added to the form only when you select Use this, and are kept only when you save the assessment.
  • It does not set prices. A suggested part is a prompt for you to check against your price book.
  • It does not replace your own findings. On the assessment page, the Findings detail you write is never changed by Walter.

How use is counted

Each time Walter produces something, it counts as one Walter Assistant execution against your plan. Your plan includes a monthly amount: 200 on Starter, 2,000 on Growth and 10,000 on Scale. You can see how much you have used on the Plan & Usage page, in the Included each month section.

Before you start

Walter features depend on your plan and on your role. Where your role does not include a feature, its button does not appear.

Tips

  • Give Walter real detail. Names, model numbers, error codes and what you already checked all improve the result.
  • Read every draft as if a new employee wrote it, and check names, prices and promises before you save or send.
  • Walter is optional. Every page works without it.

If something goes wrong

  • A message such as "Walter is unavailable right now. Please try again." means the request did not complete. Try again in a moment, or write the text yourself.
  • If a button you expect is missing, ask whoever administers roles on your account whether your role includes it.
