Dispatch Overview

Dispatch is where you see who is working what and move visits between days, times and technicians. It lives in the Schedule area and draws from the same scheduled work orders as the schedule itself. This guide explains what the Dispatch board shows, how it relates to the schedule, and who can use it.

Before you start

Technicians appear on the board only if they are active members of your account with the Technician or Field Manager role. A technician who has not set working hours still appears, but is shown as Working hours not set, and you cannot reassign work to a day they are not working.

Access depends on your role:

  • The Dispatch tab opens for a role that can manage dispatch, use advanced dispatch, or manage the schedule.
  • Dragging a visit to another day or time needs permission to manage the schedule. Dragging it to a different technician also needs permission to assign and dispatch.

If a tab is missing, your role does not include it. Ask the person who administers roles on your account.

Steps

  1. Open Schedule in the main menu. The tabs you can use are listed across the top.
  2. Open Dispatch to see who is working what, find visits that have no technician, and drag a visit to a new day, time or technician. See the guide on using the dispatch board.

How the board relates to the schedule

The Dispatch board draws from the same scheduled work orders that appear on the schedule. Moving a visit on the board changes that work order's time or technician, so the schedule and the technician's own day change with it.

Team availability and online booking are separate features with their own guides.

Tips

  • Start on Dispatch. It is the tab the Schedule area opens to for roles that can manage dispatch.
  • Check Technician Workload or the status label on each technician's row before assigning more work. The label shows Available, Near capacity, Over capacity, Off duty or Working hours not set.

If something goes wrong

If a page says technician workload or scheduled work could not be loaded, refresh it. If you are sent to an access message, your role does not include that tab.
