Setting Up Your Bookable Service Catalog

Your service catalog is the list of services customers can book online. Each service carries everything needed to turn a booking into a job, so nobody has to supply it in the field. This guide covers creating a service, getting it ready, offering it online, and arranging services into groups.

Before you start

  • Creating a service needs permission to create bookable services. Editing needs permission to edit them. Offering a service online or withdrawing it needs permission to publish them.
  • Pricing comes from your pricebook, so add the items you want to charge for there first.
  • A service needs a work order template before it can be offered to customers. If you have none, the new service page links to the work order templates page.

Steps

  1. Open Price Book, then Services, and select New service.
  2. Under What customers see, enter the name, a one-line summary and a description. The name becomes the job title whenever someone books the service.
  3. Under How the work is classified, choose the kind of work, the job type, and what the booking starts with: Book the work or Assess first. Choose Assess first if you need to see the property before you can price it.
  4. Under How the work gets done, choose a work order template, enter the default duration in minutes, and tick the trades a technician must hold. Leave all trades clear if any schedulable technician may do the work.
  5. Select Create service & continue.
  6. On the edit page, add images, then under Price choose How the price is shown (Fixed price, Starting at or Quote required) and use Add from your pricebook and Add line to build the price. Quantity on a Labor line is hours, and those hours set the duration.
  7. Back on Services, select Offer online on the service. The card changes to Bookable by customers.
  8. To stop offering it, select Stop offering online. Select Withdraw from catalog on the service page to remove it from use entirely; Restore brings it back.

Service groups

Open Price Book, then Service Groups. Enter a Name, an optional Description, and optional Show from and Show until dates, then select Create group. Open the group and use Add to put services in it, the up and down arrows to set the order, and Turn off or Remove to take one out. Select Show to customers to publish the group and Hide to take it down. Dates affect customers only; your team can always book every active service.

Tips

  • The Booking link settings section on the edit page holds the service's own link name. Changing it breaks any link to that service you have already shared.
  • A service with no groups still shows to customers.
  • A service in a group still needs to be offered online to be seen there.

If something goes wrong

  • If Offer online is missing, the card lists what is not ready, such as no price or quote-required setting, no work order template, or no kind of work chosen. Select Finish setting it up.
  • If it lists that no location has an eligible technician, check the trades you ticked and that a technician holds them.
  • If you cannot create or edit, you may not hold the permission; ask whoever administers roles.
