Connecting Your Payment Account
Before customers can pay online or you can take a card payment, you connect a payment account that you own. ServiceVisit lists each payment processor it supports as a card on the Payment Setup page. You connect your own account with the processor you choose. You are the merchant of record, payments go straight to your account, and ServiceVisit charges no platform fee on them. You still pay your processor's own fees. Only one processor is active at a time.
Before you start
- You need permission to manage payment connections. Without it the page is refused.
- Payment Setup is in Settings, not in the Money menu.
- Have your business details ready. The processor asks for them during its own verification.
- If you do not yet have a processor account, a card shows a sign-up link until you have connected once.
Steps
- Open Settings, then Payment Setup.
- Find the card for your processor. Each card lists what the processor supports, such as Recurring billing, Partial refunds and Native payouts, and a statement of who the merchant of record is.
- Under Business type, choose Individual / sole proprietor or Company. Individual / sole proprietor is selected by default, so change it to Company if that is what your business is.
- Select Activate followed by the processor's name and Payments. You are sent to the processor to create or sign in to your account and finish its verification.
- When you return, the page refreshes the status from the processor. A message tells you whether the account is ready, still needs information, or is under review.
- If your business already operates a specific processor account, select Connect a specific existing account instead, and approve the connection with the processor.
- Once connected, the active card shows Connected Account, Status, Charges Enabled and Payouts Enabled.
Working with an existing connection
- Refresh Status reads the current state from the processor.
- Continue setup (the button names your processor) appears when the account needs more information or is restricted. Outstanding requirements are listed under Outstanding Requirements.
- Make the processor Active switches back to a processor you connected earlier without a new authorization. Switching keeps your history, and earlier payments can still be refunded.
- Disconnect asks you to confirm. It revokes the stored credentials, and the processor shows as never connected. Past payments and their refunds are unaffected. If it is your active processor, customers cannot pay online until you connect another. On a processor that is connected but not active, the same action is labeled Forget Connection.
- Under Advanced options, Use a restricted API key (legacy) accepts a restricted key only. A full secret key is rejected, and this route does not create a connected-account relationship.
Tips
- Use the first route (the Activate button) unless you must keep an existing processor account.
- Review the status after returning from the processor. Returning is not proof that verification is complete.
- Treat the Pending verification message as normal. ServiceVisit does not control how long the processor takes.
If something goes wrong
- You declined the connection request. You can try again anytime. You stopped at the processor. Start again from the card.
- We could not complete the connection. Please try again. The authorization could not be finished. Try once more, then contact support.
- The restricted key could not be validated. Confirm it is a restricted key, not a full secret key.
- If Charges Enabled shows No, customers cannot be charged. Open Outstanding Requirements and continue setup.
- If the page says no processors are configured, contact support.
