Viewing and Paying an Invoice Online

When a service business sends you an invoice, you can read it, download a copy and pay it by card from your account. You can pay only if the business has set up online payments. This guide covers where to find your invoices, how to pay one, and what you see afterwards.

Before you start

  • Sign in to your customer account and be connected to the provider. If you are not, see the guide on connecting your account. Invoices from businesses you work with appear under Invoices in the left menu.
  • You can pay an invoice whose status is Sent, Overdue or PartiallyPaid. A Paid invoice shows a payment confirmation instead.
  • If you received an invoice that is not showing, use Claim Invoice at the top of the list.
  • Your card details are typed into the payment processor's secure form. The page notes that ServiceVisit never sees or stores your card number.

Steps

  1. Open Invoices in the left menu. The cards at the top show Total Invoices, Outstanding and Total Paid.
  2. To narrow the list, choose a Status (All Statuses, Sent (Unpaid), Paid, Overdue or Draft) and select Apply Filters. Each row shows the provider, Date Issued, Due Date, Amount and Status. Select View to open an invoice, PDF to download a copy, or Pay Now to go straight to payment.
  3. Open the invoice you want. The top of the page shows the business, Billed To, the service address, Issued and Due Date.
  4. Check the lines under Services Provided. Below them you see the Subtotal, any Discount, Tax and Invoice total. A Deposit applied or Credit applied row appears if one was used, and Payments received shows card or other payments already made.
  5. Total Due is what is left to pay. An overdue invoice shows how many days overdue it is.
  6. Select Pay followed by the amount. The Pay Invoice section opens with Amount to Pay.
  7. Enter your card in the secure form and select the Pay button, which shows the amount.
  8. Use Download PDF to keep a copy, or Back to Invoices to return to the list.

After you pay

A paid invoice shows Payment Received, the date it was paid, and a Payment History list with the date, time and amount of each payment.

If the business offered a payment plan

If an installment plan is attached, the invoice shows either A payment plan has been offered to you or Your payment plan. Nothing is charged until you select I agree and start the plan. See the installment plans guide for customers.

Tips

  • The amount on the button is what is outstanding, so it already reflects deposits, credits and earlier payments.
  • A part-paid invoice stays payable until the balance is zero.
  • Keep the PDF for your records. It is the same invoice you see on screen.
  • Money a provider holds for you appears under My Credit.

If something goes wrong

  • Online Payments Not Available means the business has not set up online payments. Contact them to pay by check, cash or bank transfer.
  • If the page says online payment is temporarily unavailable, contact the provider or try again later.
  • If there is no Pay button, check the status. A Draft or Paid invoice cannot be paid here.
  • If a payment fails, an error message appears at the top of the invoice. Check the card and try again, or use a different card.
  • If the payment form does not load, refresh the page and try again.
  • If the amount due looks wrong, contact the business before paying. Only the business can change an invoice, record a payment you made another way, or issue a refund or credit.
  • If you were charged and the invoice still shows an amount due, check Payment History and then contact the business with the time and amount. You can also open Support and start a New ticket.
