Adding or Finding a Property
If your property is not in ServiceVisit yet, add it on the Create Property page. If you want to check whether a property already exists, use Find Properties. This guide covers both.
Before you start
Sign in to your customer account. ServiceVisit serves addresses in the United States only, so the country is fixed and you cannot change it. Have the street address ready, and check your plan's property allowance.
Steps
To add a property:
- Open Create Property, from Create a New Property on the claim page or Create Property on Find Properties.
- Enter a Property Name. It is required, between 3 and 160 characters, for example "Main Street Duplex" or "Downtown Office".
- Choose a Property Type.
- Under Property Address, start typing the street address and pick a suggestion. ServiceVisit fills in the rest, and you can correct any field before saving. A street address, city, state and postal code are required.
- Optionally open Additional Details (Optional) and enter Year Built (1800 to 2100) and Square Footage.
- Select Create Property. The property is created and claimed for you, and its Property Passport opens. Select Cancel to leave without saving.
To find a property:
- Open Find Properties.
- Under Search by Address, search by street address, city or ZIP code and pick a result.
- Under Selected property, see its type and whether it is Claimed or Available to Claim.
- Select View Details to open it, or Claim This Property if it is available.
Tips
- Picking an address suggestion is the easiest way to get the address right.
- A property whose address already exists is not created twice. If the address is already claimed by someone else, your attempt is refused rather than added to your account.
- Providers may add a property from this page too, and they see extra fields for systems and a maintenance record. You do not see those fields.
If something goes wrong
- If the address fields show errors, complete the street address, city, state and postal code.
- If you see that the property could not be added to your account because another homeowner has claimed it, the address is taken. Contact support if you believe it is yours.
- If you see that you have reached your property limit on your plan, the property is not added to your account. Upgrade your plan to add more.
- If you see Your email address must be confirmed before you can claim a property, confirm your email address first.
- If Find Properties shows no result, try fewer words, such as the street and city only.
