Claiming a Property and Checking Your Claim

Claiming a property puts its Property Passport in your account. The Claim a Property page lets you search for a property that already exists in ServiceVisit and claim it. This guide covers the claim, the result you get, and what the claim status page shows.

Before you start

Sign in to your customer account. Your email address must be confirmed, or the claim is refused. Check your plan's property allowance too: each plan includes a set number of properties, and a claim over that number is refused. See the guide on the property limit.

Steps

  1. Open My Properties and select Claim Property. During first-time setup you may instead see Claim Your Property, which asks for an address and offers Claim My Property or Skip for now.
  2. Under Search for Your Property, start typing your address, city or ZIP code, then pick your property from the list.
  3. Check the address under Selected property.
  4. Select Claim This Property. By claiming, you certify that you are the legal owner or an authorized resident of the property.
  5. When the claim is accepted you are taken to My Properties, where the property now appears. If you claimed a property you had already claimed, you see a note that it is already in your account.
  6. If your search finds more than one property at the address, Select Your Property lists the matches. Choose one and select Claim Selected Property. Select Back to Search to try another address.

Tips

  • A property already claimed by someone else shows as claimed and cannot be selected. If you believe it is yours, contact support. You can add your property as a new one instead.
  • A property already in your account shows This property is already in your account with a link to View it.
  • Your claim page may suggest properties that look like yours. Select Not my property to hide a suggestion. Select Restore Hidden Suggestions to bring hidden suggestions back.
  • If you cannot find your property, select Create a New Property. You answer verification questions, and if they succeed you claim the property automatically.
  • Choosing Skip for now during first-time setup claims nothing. You can add a property later from My Properties.

What the claim statuses mean

Open Property Claim Status to see a claim's address, the dates it was requested, confirmed and approved, and one of these statuses:

  • Awaiting Confirmation: the claim is waiting for you to confirm it from the link in your email.
  • Approved: the claim is complete. Select View My Properties.
  • Expired: the claim was not confirmed in time. Select Request New Claim and start again.
  • Rejected: the claim was refused, and the page shows the reason.

Claims are normally approved straight away when you select Claim This Property, so you may never see Awaiting Confirmation. A claim that was left waiting appears under Pending Claims on My Properties, with its expiry and a Resend Email button.

If something goes wrong

  • If you see Your email address must be confirmed before you can claim a property, confirm your email address first, then claim again.
  • If you see that you have reached your property limit on your plan, the claim was rejected. Upgrade your plan to claim more properties.
  • If you see This property has already been claimed by another homeowner, someone else holds it. Contact support if you believe it is yours.
  • If you see This property is no longer available to claim, the record has changed or was taken. Search again.
  • If a claim is Expired, a confirmation link older than 48 hours no longer works. Request a new claim.
  • If you see Claim request not found, check the claim ID or start a new claim.
